Bob the Builder

Project Description

Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake Fondant icing was used to create Bob the Builder, cat and the bricks. The cake was covered in green butter icing and coated in green coconut to create the grass effect. What are you most proud of? This was my second attempt at cake decoration, so I was quite pleased with the outcome, especially considering that Bob's arm snapped into two at one point so had to stick it back together - mild panic, but all was OK in the end! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Using cocktail sticks to support Bob and the Cat proved to be a good technique to keep everything together and standing. Also the bricks can be made first, a night before so they harden and are easier to work with when building the wall. Also, I painted the shirt onto Bob's arms with the colouring dye, however I'm sure there are better things to use as this did take a fair amount of time to dry so I had to wait before I could attach the arms to Bob's body.
