Share a little about the materials, processes, and techniques used to create this cake I made two different cakes (Vanilla and Chocolate). I used real Barbies so the birthday girl would have them as gifts afterward. The Blonde Barbie was made with Vanilla cake that was layered with Strawberry filling. I sculpted the cake to fit the real Barbie. The Brunette Barbie was made with Chocolate cake that was layered with Chocolate Genache filling. I covered both Barbies with Buttercream Icing and Satin Ice Fondant. The decorations were made with 1/2 Fondant and 1/2 gum paste. The Nameplate was made out of Rice Crispy Treat covered with Fondant. The cakes sat on an adjustable 3 tier cake stand. What are you most proud of? The look on my God Daughter's face when she saw the cakes!! She didn't see the imperfections that I saw. She had to be reminded to join her party because she would just stand and look at her cakes and twirl around in her Princess dress. What advice would you give someone starting this project? I had a problem with the Fondant 'sweating'. I live in Central Texas and the heat and humidity are things I haven't quite figured out. I stored the Barbies in the fridge (uncovered) and I think that contributed to the sweating.
