Melted snowmen cupcakes
- White, pink and orange fondant
- Blade tool
- Small ball tool
- Black edible sugar pearls
- Edible glue
- White and pink edible luster dust
- Food-safe paintbrushes
- Circle cutters (a little larger than the top of your cupcake)
Flat ice the top of your cupcake with the base color fondant of your choice. We opted for a bubble-gum pink. Make sure that you test the size of your fondant circle to see how well it fits the top. It helps to choose cutters a little larger than the top of your cupcake.
Roll a small ball of white fondant and attach it to the top of your cupcake using edible glue. This is going to form the melted lump shape of your snowman’s head.
Roll out the white fondant and cut a circle the same size as your cupcake. This is going to form the melted body of your snowman. At this stage, you can lightly brush a little white luster dust on top to give your snowman a frosty look.
Using your blade tool, cut the edges of your white fondant circle to create a melted shape. Drape this over the top of your cupcake and attach with edible glue. Try not to add too much glue — it can get messy fast.
Use the small ball tool to indent a pair of eye sockets into the head of your snowman. Add a little edible glue.
Attach two black edible sugar pearls into the sockets for your snowman’s eyes.
Roll and mold a small amount of orange fondant into a teardrop shape. Indent a series of lines along it to give it a carrot-like texture. Attach with a dab of edible glue.
Note: You can also make your snowman’s nose out of a ball of white fondant.
Add the final touches. Using a small ball tool, indent a round mouth shape (or smile if you like) on your snowman’s face.
Use pink edible petal dust and a food-safe paintbrush to apply some blush to its cheeks.
You can also sprinkle little snowflake sprinkles for extra frostiness! White nonpareils work well for this too.
Design ideas: How about adding fondant mittens, a scarf or pom-pom topped hat? You can also use pretzel sticks for your snowman’s arms.
