Surplice Dress

What are you most proud of? These are my very first sleeves! What advice would you give someone starting this project? I have only been sewing 5mths and I found it pretty easy! Don't choose a really slinky fabric like I did, unless you enjoy fiddling with it. I knew this fabric wouldn't be fun to work with but I knew it would look sweet and drape beautifully

Q&A with AskSarah

Lynne O asked:
Wow, your dress looks amazing! Working with a difficult to handle fabric was definitely worth it for the end result.
AskSarah answered:
Thank you! I haven't done the hem yet as I couldn't decide on how to hem it without losing the flow of the fabric. I'm thinking a rolled overlocker/serger hem?
PerlenDiva asked:
Very cool print. I think a tiny serger hem would be great and way easier then to fiddle with a twin needle.
AskSarah answered:
Thank you! I really love the print too, it's very slightly shiny. I think I'm going to go rolled hem.
MissN asked:
A rolled hem its a breezed & looks very professional. You may want to consider using Wooly nylon in the lower loopers of the serger. Very pretty dress. Nice job!
AskSarah answered:
hank you. Is wooly nylon easy to use? I keep meaning to buy some but there is only one place locally that sells it and I don't go there often.
susangwerner@yahoo.com.au asked:
Great print for the dress ! It looks great.
AskSarah answered:
Thank you. I bought the fabric ages but couldn't find the right thing to sew with it, I knew this dress would be perfect for it.
