I have an old 930 Electronic Bernina (the 'work horse' of the 1980's) and would not give it up for anything. Your new 830 should make it much easier with the extra space. My Bernina sits in a beautiful wooden cabinet made for it, and the 'fold out' left wood 'table' is certainly a plus when machine quilting. Good luck. Just take two squares of muslin or flannel and put some batting between them, , drop your feed dogs, set your machine stitch to a fairly long stitch, put on your darning foot or embroidery foot, and have at it.
