This is a perfect quilt for a beginning quilter. And it's a really fun and relaxing project for an experienced quilter. Everyone wins! What makes it so easy? Well, let me tell you. . . It's all straight lines. No diagonals, no points, no curves. Just nice straight lines. Easy to cut and easy to sew. I designed the quilt to be forgiving of small errors. Relax! Your seam allowance isn't exactly 1/4 inch? That's ok. Your seams don't match up? Impossible - there are no places for your seams to match up. I planned it special that way. :-) I tell you exactly what you need to do every step of the way - including how to efficiently cut out your fabric. I have quilt diagrams, specific yardage requirements and cutting instructions for four common quilt sizes. None of this "easily sizes up or down" nonsense! Do you want to do math or do you want to make a quilt? I thought so. I link to videos throughout the pattern for all the skills you'll need to complete the project - from using rotary cutting tools to sewing a straight line, layering, basting, quilting, and binding. I don't care if you've never even used a sewing machine before - you can totally make this quilt! Do you like those fancy schmancy pieced quilt backs you see online all the time? I give you instructions for that too! With diagrams and instructions for all four sizes, of course. And - I designed those fancy pieced backs to use just about every scrap of leftover fabric from your cutting. Thrifty and fancy! And finally - I tell you how you can make it scrappy. Beginning scrap hoarders can replace just the fat quarters with scraps. If your scraps are taking over all available space in your sewing room, you can use scraps for the whole dang thing! I include instructions for both situations. :-) See how easy it's going to be? Are you ready to make it? Here are the fabric requirements. . . Napping Quilt (66.5" wide x 70" tall) 10 fat quarters for buttonholes 2 1/4 yards background fabric 1/2 yard binding fabric for backing you'll need 3 1/4 yards + your scraps Twin Quilt (66.5" wide x 87.5" tall) 13 fat quarters for buttonholes 3 yards background fabric 1/2 yard binding fabric for backing you'll need 4 yards + your scraps Queen Quilt (84" wide x 94.5" tall) 18 fat quarters for buttonholes 4 1/4 yards background fabric 3/4 yard binding fabric for backing you'll need 5 3/4 yards + your scraps King Quilt (101.5" wide x 94.5" tall) 21 fat quarters for buttonholes 5 yards background fabric 3/4 yard binding fabric for backing you'll need 7 yards + your scraps The only other thing you need is some batting. I recommend an 80/20 cotton/polyester blend. I especially like Warm & Natural brand. Oh - and get two spools of all-purpose thread to match your background fabric. That's it!
