Midday Shoot

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The ability to slow down, compose my photos with an eye like a painter, set up properly with a tripod, use mirror lock up, use a cable release, and make the best photo that I can. This also assumes that I set a sufficiently small aperture, and focus approximately 1/3 into the scene so as to try to ensure that I get both the foreground and background in focus. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Listen carefully to, and practice all of the methods the Rick recommends.

What you will need

  • Nikon D800 camera and Nikon AF-S 70-200 f/4 VR lens with polarizer
  • on Really Right Stuff tripod with Really Right Stuff ballhead
  • using mirror lockup and remote release.

Q&A with Nikonnut

Gmenz asked:
Nice composition. The fence line pulls your eye right into the frame. The bright foreground gives it tremendous depth. What kind of processing did you use?
Nikonnut answered:
Hi......thanks for the kind comments. First I processed in Lightroom 5, then brought in to Photoshop CS6 for some layers work. Finally, I added a few tweaks using the plug-in Nik Color Efex Pro.
