Tammy McNaught asked:
I also used cheap yarn for the first two pair of plain mitts. I usually use a size 7 for worsted weight yarn so i did the swatch and looked lie the size 8 is what the swatch showed but when I knit the mitts the cuff was too wide. Therefore I went back to size 6 for the cuff and size 7 for the hand. Now I am afraid of using my expensive yarn. Help I don't understand what I am doing wrong.
Kristinnn answered:
Well I would go by the swatch. Use whatever size needle gives you the correct amount of stitches in an inch. If the cuff is too wide go down a size in the actual mitten. It has a lot if stretch.
patdenson asked:
I agree about using cheaper yarn to try out a pattern. I don't like to spend a lot of money for something I don't like working on. You did a great job, What didn't you like about the pattern?or mittens?
Kristinnn answered:
thanks!- Well i dont know if it was me or the mittens but the bind off wasnt working for me..too tight. I tried using a larger needle to bind off and i used the rib bind off. Guess i needed to do it even looser. It could just be my hands- they arent petite. I guess i didnt like the way they looked on my hands. I will try again after i venture on to the next pair in the series.
BlackFlower1 asked:
