PATTERN DETAILS

Scandinavian stranded motifs have always appealed to me. I love how clean and fluid they are in some cases, yet crisply geometric in others. This Scandinavian Sampler Pullover displays a variety of these motifs, worked in non-traditional color combinations while echoing the practise in Shetland Fair Isle knitting, of subtle color blending. The corrugated ribbing used in the cuffs and neckband is also subtly blended in the background. The overall effect is, I think, interesting and pleasing to the eye. This garment is timeless both in style and materials: it can be made using six colours you have on hand, or you can actually acquire the original yarn used here, by contacting Briggs & Little Woolen Mills in Harvey, New Brunswick, Canada. You can find information at www.briggsandlittle.com. NOTE Regarding Yardage: this is based on acquiring full skeins of yarn for the color range; some colors do not require a full skein. I've been knitting for (OMG!) over 50 years. But wait: I started when I was about 4 so that's not so bad! I love things that look hard to make but are actually really easy, and I very much enjoy the challenge of off-the-wall construction techniques. I had my own mail order knitting kit business for a while, and I was President and co-founder of the Knitting Guild of Canada. I am also a Master Knitter as accredited by TKGA and I was the creator and evaluator of the Canadian Master Knitter program run by TKGC. So, let's get knitting!
