Basket Settings Earrings

All of these stones are 4 mm faceted round. The materials are 20 ga round Sterling Silver wire and 22 ga round wire S.S. I used a 2.4 mm round mandrel , rolled the 20 ga wire around it, cut the rings off. Soldered with hard solder, place in the pickle pot. Cut 20 ga round wire 12 mm long, made a round notch in the middle of pieces of the wire.( making sure that the notch is square with the piece, place two of them to make a plus, solder joint with hard. Place the plus on a steel block, use a second block and place on top of the plus and hit with a hammer, flattening the piece to no less than 22 ga. After this use a scribe to mark the center of the plus. Take a divider and set up the ends at 1.5 mm, place one end of the divider into the center mark and rotate the divider to mark each of the plus. This will show you where to bend up each leg. Drill a .6 mm round hole for the 22 ga round wire. Take the round ring and place into the basket to make sure all 4 of the basket legs touch the ring, if not it would be easier to move the legs now, before you solder the ring, solder the 22 ga round wire in with medium solder, place in the pickle pot. After this rinse and place the ring into place about 1.5 mm to 2 mm from the bottom of the basket. Solder all of the place with easy solder. Repeat this for the second earring!
