What are you most proud of? It didn't turn out bad... What advice would you give someone starting this project? try it and don't be afraid to rip it out a few times.

Q&A with SallyB

JuJo asked:
This is so precious. I especially love the fullness of the skirt. I can just picture this dress on my sweet baby granddaughters.
SallyB answered:
I appreciate that you like my project and it would probably be a cute dress, but unfortunately it is just a hat. I will have to work on making a dress to go with it.
JuJo asked:
I'm sorry...I was admiring the hat and the Colleen dress. I can just picture my red haired granddaughter in this sweet hat in a bright teal. I've made her a pants and coat set with teal in the fabric, the hat will be perfect to complete the outfit.
SallyB answered:
I can try and write down directions if you would like them...how old is she? I made this one for a newborn, but could adjust directions for an older child. If you're not a crocheter, I would be happy to make one for her.
JuJo asked:
I am new to crocheting. I am mostly bedridden now and I can't stand to lie here and do nothing! I've sewn all my life, am a passionate quilter, love to tole paint. These activities have not been successful when done in bed. I decided to teach myself to crochet. I've learned sooo much from the tutorials on youtube and classes on Craftsy. I've made 3 afghans, 4 beanies, a laptop cover, and a pair of fingerless gloves. I'm not very good at reading directions. I'd like to try to make the hat myself, if it isn't too complicated. One granddaughter is 1 1/2 years and the other is 2 i/2. A new granddaughter is expected in May so I can still use the baby sizes. I have 18 grandchildren. Thank you for your kind offer to make the hat. I also appreciate that you were so understanding about my mix-up concerning the hat and dress. I look forward to watching for more of your designs.
SallyB answered:
I will need a few days to get the pattern down on paper for you. It should be easy for you with all you've done. It uses only simple stitches. Give me the weekend and I'll post it for you. I'm also hoping to have a picture of it on the baby it was made for soon that I will post. I work full time, so I do this to relax. My kids are grown, but no grandchildren...yet. My daughter just got married and my son hasn't found the right girl...yet. I'm so sorry to hear that you are unable to continue with your passion, but am glad you are able to find a new one. If you have any questions or problems with the pattern once I post it, just let me know. Take care.
JuJo asked:
Sally, thank you for printing the pattern. I'm going to attempt it! It is so cute and well worth the extra time I will need to read the pattern and get my work to actually look like the hat. Good practise for this beginner in crochet.
SallyB answered:
If you have any problem reading the pattern, let me know. It was the first one I've written down, so some of it may not make sense. Can't wait to hear how it turns out for you.
