You may have seen this Star Applique in my recent Seeing Stars Basic Baby Beanie post, or my Star and Stripes Baby Beanie post from this past 4th of July. Ever since I put it down in writing, I have wanted to try out different yarn types to see what other size options I could get. When I received these hooks, it instantly clicked - same pattern, different size hooks with yarn out of my stash - and so here it is. Materials: - Cotton Thread - I used Aunt Lydias Classic Crochet Thread in Burgundy - B/2mm Crochet Hook - Sock Weight - I used Premier Yarns Wool-Free Sock Yarn in Pueblo - D/3mm Crochet Hook - Fine Weight (2) - I used Lion Brand's Vanna's Glamour in Diamond - E/3.5mm Crochet Hook - Light/Sport (3) - I used Hobby Lobby's I Love This Sportweight in Red - 7/4.5mm Crochet Hook - Worsted (4) - I used Hobby Lobby's I Love This Yarn in Ivory Sparkle - I9/5.5mm Crochet Hook - Chunky (5) - I used Deborah Norville's Serenity Chunky in After Dark - J10/6mm Crochet Hook - Tapestry Needle for Weaving in Ends - an #18 or #20 work great - And my NEW Ergonomic Crochet Hooks from Haven for Hands! All sizes listed above under the respective yarn used Material Notes: Any weight yarn will do - star measurements will vary. Some hook sizes listed above are not standard US hook sizes. You can change out to the closest one you have - for example, in my now old set I did not have a 2mm but I had a 2.25mm and I did not have a 4.5mm but I had a 4.25mm. Time Spent: I had each star ready to go in about ten minutes. This pattern contains 3 pages, 1 photo and full written instructions for star applique. Different sizes are achieved by changing hook size and yarn weight. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Single Crochet Half Double Crochet Double Crochet Triple Crochet (explained) Quadruple Crochet (explained GAUGE Not essential for this project. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 2" to 5.25" from Point to Point

I began with needlepoint on plastic canvas (thank you Aunt Arlys!) about six years ago, making anything I could get my hands on or brain to think up, from masks for school plays to picture frames and small trinkets but recently (less than a year ago), I’ve gotten into jewelry making and working on my crocheting/sewing/etc. I currently craft full time. This is my true passion, and I am very grateful for your business, support and feedback! I chose the name Eye Love Knots in honor of the Burckhalter/Lindhorn family (my very close cousins). Our family has been affected by Retinoblastoma, a cancer of one or both eyes which occurs in young children. There are approximately 350 new diagnosed cases per year in the US and affect about one in every 15,000 births. Although children may be born with retinoblastoma, it is rarely diagnosed at birth. As a rapidly growing cancer, studies of the bones, bone marrow and spinal fluid are also performed upon discovery. If the tumor is contained within the eye, more than 95% of patients can be cured. For those children with tumors in both eyes, close to 70-80% of the eyes can be saved, although many of them need radiation therapy, or possibly even chemotherapy. Fifteen percent of every purchase made from me will be donated to aid in the medical advances and new discoveries on the fight against Retinoblastoma, blindness and other eye diseases. Donations go to the National Retinoblastoma Research and Support Foundation headed by Dr. Timothy Murray If you aren’t in need of any of my handmade treasures but would like to make a donation today, please email me so I can set this up for you.
