~~~MOST RECENT DESIGN~~ (psst...there is a promo code to my yarn shop in this pattern! It is valid for the first 10 uses only. Buy the pattern, then buy yourself some awesome hand-dyed or hand painted yarn! ~HONEY BUNCHES SCARF~ I designed this pattern with very early beginners in mind - I even had a friend of mine, who has only been crocheted for a few weeks, test the pattern for me. The scarf looks complicated but it is incredibly easy/simple and only requires knowledge of 2 basic stitches! If you make a mistake - keep going! It's likely nobody would even notice! It's a very forgiving pattern. If you run out of yarn, just fasten off at the end of the last completed row. No stress! The finished item has two different looks. When it is relaxed it bunches together and looks like thin vertical lines. When it is stretched width wise, it looks similar to a honey comb with many gaps/spaces. Thus the name, 'Honey Bunches Scarf.' The amount of yarn needed is flexible. For the scarf in the photos I used 640 yards of Yarn Baby merino/bamboo worsted weight yarn (2 skeins). You could also make this scarf with just 320 yards and you would end up with a thinner/skinner scarf, but still beautiful and still handmade! As always, if you have any questions I am happy to help. DYE ALL THE COLORS! Working in the Fiber Arts was not a path I saw in my life, but I have always been into the arts. I taught music in public schools for 10 years prior to the evolution of Yarn Baby. When I became a mom, spending more time with my little people became a high priority and I went from teaching full-time to part-time to stop teaching all together. Then entered the YARN! My babies only liked blankies made of yarn, so I started calling them my little “Yarn Babies” -- thus the name of my shop. Now my boys are little fiber experts preferring blankets made with bamboo and/or silk so they “feel cold.” They know their fibers! :-) I started with crochet, then took a spinning class, started dyeing roving (for my own use) and then fell head over heels in love with dyeing yarn. So here I am…spinning, dyeing and selling yarn. RADICAL! Online yarn shop owner of only natural fiber yarns; cotton, wool, hand-dyed and handspun.
