Q&A with YQ

Garden Baker asked:
The bottom tier is gorgeous, YQ! Not clear if you used an overlay lace mat with fondant or if the lace is piped. Your layer work is not only the prettiest that I've seen, but also the most original. Now for a question about the tiny yellow pistons: Are each of those on wire? If not how do you get them to stand up so straight. I bought packaged ones on threads and they just fall and look limp. In any case, beautiful work, as always!
YQ answered:
Hi there! Delronda! Thank you, as always. I used three different designs of lace mats. Cut them up in sections and created what the bottom tier has. Are you talking about stamen? They are wired stamen. There are different kinds that come with almost like cotton thread. May be you got those?
Garden Baker asked:
Yes, I have the ones that are on cotton thread :( . Did you purchase yours already wired or did you make them yourself? The peony is big and bright. Would look gorgeous and dramatic on a dark chocolate cake!
YQ answered:
They are store bought. I did not make them. Yxx

Bubula asked:
just cheked all of your projects, and i just can say wow. all of them is a singular piece of amazing for me. I have to say, you are the kind of cake decorator i want to be one day. Creative, has a singular taste and style which no one can copy, and really can work with the colours, flowers, techniques, and create a beautiful, suprising and stunning combination out of them.
YQ answered:
Dear Katap1, I am humbled to receive such heartfelt comments from you. Thank you. It has been a lot if trial and error and still is. I sometimes want to just throw cakes out if the windows to be honest :) but warm comments like yours from other cake fellows really keep me going. So thank you!
