I can completely understand why you don’t like to back stitch with applique because it will cause things to get bunched up.

Hello from Rocky Mount, Virginia. PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!! I really need some help with getting my sewing machines adjusted properly. They either are too loose on the top or too loose on the bottom.

per brother sewing site:be sure threading is correct. rethread top thread, check that upper thread tension is between 4&5, check the bobbin. bobbin thread could be wound incorrectly- bobbin could be inserted incorrectly- use correct bobbin for your machine, make sure bobbin was threaded correctly in the shuttle( check by holding bobbin w right hand with thread unwnding to the left, pull out some thread, drop bobbin in the casepush bobbin down and pass thread thru the slit pull thru to the cutter, replace bobbin cover. change the needle could be dull, or wrong for type of fabric, use correct thread for type of fabric, try to sew on scap of fabric and see if you need to adjust the thread tension dial. good luck your sewing machine may have a youtube or we bsite that has the instruction book.

Loved this class! A relaxing project for summer. Creamsicles are my favorite, so I’m planning on making an orange Creamsicle version.

It looks like single fold bias tape would do well for the shadows.

You could turn the pins so they are across the shadows and it would hold them in place better
