Hi. I really like the Pathways arc tool with the 3.5, 5 & 7 inch arcs that Colleen used. I’ve looked on Amazon UK & with my local suppliers but can’t find one. Any idea where I can get one?

Love the idea of using tissue paper for temporary backing! I’ve been using painters tape for my fabric alignment for years – it’s a sanity-saver!

It’s great to hear that you appreciate the idea of using tissue paper for temporary backing and that painter’s tape has been a helpful tool for fabric alignment in your quilting journey! Both of these techniques can indeed be lifesavers. Happy quilting, and may your projects continue to turn out beautifully!

When quilting combining colored fabrics with white or light do you pre wash them to prevent bleeding if colors later?

    Reply
    • Craftsy

      Hi Anne,
This really comes down to personal preference. You can always test your fabric first by cutting a small square and placing it in a shallow bowl of warm water to see if colors bleed. If they do, definitely pre-wash. If you don’t pre-wash, consider using Color Catchers when washing the final quilt to ensure that no dark colors transfer to the light.

Actually depends on what your project is for, considerations on washing needs, what budget you
want to spend, and how you want to quilt it…..amongst other things. Lots of lovely products available – try to sort out 3 you like and work with them first. Have fun!

It’s always great to have a variety of choices to work with. Most importantly, have fun while doing it!

Best things about quilting are the people who participate in teaching and the people who are so anxious to learn! That’s everyone!

Please share that you cannot use regular rulers for ruler work you must have a ‘ruler’ work ruler with height so it rides on the edge of the ruler and will not sew on the ruler. Also the correct foot.

      Hi Gillian,
Colleen Tauke and Penny Barnes addressed your question during the Q&A panel at the start of day 1. Make sure to go back and watch the segment if you missed it!

The choice of batting material depends on the specific needs of your quilt and your personal preferences. Some quilters prefer one type of batting for certain projects and another type for different projects. Experimenting with different batting materials can help you determine which one works best for your quilting style and the desired characteristics of your quilt.

Cotton Batting: Cotton batting is a popular choice among quilters. It’s natural, breathable, and provides a traditional look and feel to quilts. Cotton batting is easy to work with and tends to shrink slightly when washed, giving quilts a classic crinkled appearance.

Polyester Batting: Polyester batting is known for its durability and loft. It doesn’t shrink when washed, which makes it a good choice for quilts that will see frequent use and washing. It also provides a puffy look to quilts.

Wool Batting: Wool batting is prized for its warmth and lightweight feel. It has excellent insulation properties, making it ideal for quilts meant to keep you warm in colder weather. Wool batting is known for its loft and ability to drape nicely.

Bamboo Batting: Bamboo batting is a more eco-friendly option because it’s made from renewable bamboo fibers. It’s soft, breathable, and has moisture-wicking properties, which can make it a good choice for bed quilts.

Blend Batting: Some quilters prefer batting blends, which combine two or more materials. For example, a cotton/polyester blend might offer the benefits of both materials, such as the softness of cotton and the durability of polyester.

Will there be specific times for the classes or will they be recorded to watch when we have time. There are several interesting classes that so don’t want to miss but no times are given with the schedule.

I am glad I took the time to read thru these “feedback comments” I have been confused as to how to find the time the classes started. Do I have to sit thru the whole class that has all of them in one video? or will the classes be broke up for each class? I think this could be a great idea you are doing, but having time to sit thru a whole video that has all the classes in one would be very difficult. There is another group that does this, a three day or weeklong of classes and they have a great set up that seems to work well. The lady Jennifer Maker is part of this group.
