Pattern Description:

A mustache quilt, why of course!
I've been a bit obsessed with mustaches lately, and I HAD to make a mustache quilt and YOU HAVE TO, too! It's perfect for Movember!
Ransack the closet or cruise the thrift store and pull out some nice men's shirts. Collect a few "hair" fabric scraps, and you're half way to making this quilt. Using Alethea's border-as-you-go technique, the quilt sews up quickly and easily.
Hand or machine stitch your favorite names for the mustaches and you'll get a smile every time someone looks at this quilt!
Full size patterns for each mustache, a quilt assembly diagram, and embroidery templates for the names are included in the download. So you can just print, trace, sew and giggle!
P.S. How awesome would this quilt be in funky modern fabrics? I might just start one today!

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 47" x 54"

  • For the quilt top: *18 shirt pieces or cotton fabric 12 1/2" x 8 1/2" (prewashed and pressed well) *18 mustache fabric scraps in varying sizes (brown, black, white, grey, blonde, orange) *34 border fabric squares: 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" (use both the mustache fabrics and the shirting) *1/3 yard cotton fabric for small outer border (cut 6 strips 2" by the width of the fabric)

You Will Also Need:

  • For the back, batting and binding: *3 yards fabric or scraps for back *Approximately 51' x 58" batting *1/2 yard fabric for binding
  • *Lightweight fusible web: 1 to 1 1/2 yards depending on width (I prefer Soft Fuse)
  • Threads that match the mustache colors for topstitching, if desired *Black perle cotton for hand embroidery of names, if desired
