Meet your instructor, Jacey Boggs Faulkner, and set up your spinning wheel. Learn the history behind art yarns (no, this isn't a new craft!) and review different materials like batts, silk hankies, combed mohair and other types of fiber. Jacey will teach you to spin a gorgeous yarn!
Review textured single-ply materials as Jacey demonstrates how to spin extreme fiber made from various kinds of material. Then learn the trick to spinning thick and thin yarn for the most balanced feel. Finally, learn a more advanced yarn technique: beautiful single-ply beehives and cocoons!
Spin two-ply yarns for a rich feel to your fabrics! After spinning thick and thin yarn, use it to make a gorgeous spiral ply, and spin super coils with differential tension. Next, learn the advanced coil as you move to switch tensions. Finally, make stacks, haloes and loops to add variety.
Learn how to core spin using batts for added texture and fullness to your yarns! Then, learn how to tail spin with short-tailed locks and try the two-core method to spin long-tail locks. Finally, you don't need to use a core at all with Jacey's "through the hole" method of spinning locks.
Combine textures using extreme chain-plying with thick and thin yarn for a vibrant new look. Then, learn how to experiment with yarns using supercoiling squared and spiraling supercoiled yarn; it's gorgeous! Finally, learn about extreme wrapping and testing different fibers.

Jacey Boggs Faulkner is a professional spinner who has taught more than 200 classes. She's written for multiple publications, including Spin-Off and Entangled, and in 2010 published her first book, Spin Art. She is the director and editor-in-chief of PLY Magazine, which she founded in 2013.
