Tassels Two Ways
Brenda K.B. AndersonTassels are a fun and simple way to add a touch of flair to your crochet creations. They can be used to enhance bags, pillows, shawls, or even turned into adorable earrings! Making them is easy, and all you need is some leftover yarn, a small piece of cardboard, and a bit of guidance.
In this video, Brenda demonstrates two different methods for making tassels, each offering a distinct style. The basic tassel is a perfect starting point and can be customized with various yarns and cardboard sizes to suit your project. The second tassel Brenda shows features a large decorative “eye” at the top and can incorporate up to three colors for a truly unique look.
While showing how to make the basic tassel, Brenda explains how to change its appearance by adjusting the cardboard’s height, the number of yarn wraps, or the yarn type. She walks through creating the tassel and the cord it hangs from, sharing helpful tips for success.
Once the basic tassel is finished, Brenda demonstrates how to make the tassel with the decorative eye. Using the same piece of cardboard, this time positioned vertically, she creates taller loops and shows how to group the yarn strands together. Brenda also explains how to wrap the eye of the tassel and offers tips for smoother assembly. For this variation, she demonstrates how to make a two-tone twisted cord to hang the tassel.
