Table Saw L-Fence
George VondriskaWhen you need to make an unusual cut, like trimming the legs of an X-brace to consistent lengths, there’s no ready-made solution that’s safe, precise, and repeatable. These situations call for a bit of creativity. One smart method is using an L-Fence. An L-Fence expands the capabilities of a table saw, letting you establish a reliable registration point on oddly shaped pieces and make accurate, safe cuts.
Using an L-Fence is straightforward:
Build the L-Fence. The process is easy to follow once you see a reference image. Make it to a size that works for your table saw and fence.
Clamp it to your table saw fence. Follow George’s technique to position the L-Fence, then secure it with bar clamps.
Attach a straight guide to your workpiece. This acts as a stabilizer, keeping your piece steady as you safely feed it through the cut.
