One Row Stitch Pattern: DC Group
Jen LucasDescription
To start, chain any odd number of stitches.
Row 1: Skip the first 4 chains (which count as a DC and a ch-1), then work 2 DC into the 5th chain from the hook. Next, [skip 2 chains, work 2 DC into the next chain] across, leaving 3 chains at the end. Skip 2 chains and DC into the last chain.
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as the first DC), turn, and work 2 DC in the space between each DC pair across. Finish the row with a DC in the top of the last DC.
Repeat Row 2 for the pattern.
Jen notes that you’ll have a DC on each edge (either a ch-3 or a DC) with pairs of DC stitches in between.
This stitch is sometimes referred to as a “”DC v-stitch”” pattern, but don’t confuse it with another v-stitch variation that includes a ch-1 between each DC pair.
Jen also demonstrates how to change colors mid-row. She works to the last yarn-over of the final DC, then cuts the old color and pulls through the new color to complete the last DC. After the color change, she continues the pattern, starting with the ch-3 turning chain.
This delightful stitch pattern works well for shawls, summer sweaters, tank tops, baby items, scarves, and more! Whether you’re new to crochet or an experienced crafter looking for a fun project, stitch along with Jen to see just how easy and beautiful this pattern can be!
