Setting Up & Swatching (08:12)
Discover an easy method for a creating a provisional cast-on with waste yarn, then troubleshoot common mistakes and challenges. Plus, learn to make fabric and knit to gauge with your machine by creating gauge swatches.
Calculations & Casting On (22:09)
See how to use the pattern worksheet to customize your sweater. Worksheets are included for small, medium and large sweaters. Renée shows you how to cast on for the back of your sweater with a tubular hem and how to troubleshoot any tricky parts.
The Sweater Front (15:11)
Things are starting to take shape! Once you’ve calculated your measurements, start working the front of your sweater, placing markers when you reach the armholes. Then, Renée explains the intricacies of neck shaping using decreases.
Sleeve Construction (11:36)
Continue using the pattern worksheet to confirm the correct dimension of your sleeves. You’ll practice a ribbed cuff cast-on and increases as your sleeves grow in circumference.
Sweater Construction (20:59)
In this final lesson you’ll put all your sweater pieces together. Follow along as Renée demonstrates blocking, seaming and adding a neck trim to finish up your sweater.
Renée Callahan started her career as a knitwear designer after studying fashion design at Central Saint Martins college in London, where she currently resides. Her easy-to-knit patterns have a modern aesthetic and are made to last. She also teaches a variety of classes and workshops for both hand and machine knitting, and loves seeing new knitters take to the needles.

Do I have to purchase a Craftsy Membership to get my class?

Do your DVDs work on international players?
Yes, our DVDs should be compatible with any DVD player in use today. All our videos have been created with all current Region Codes (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8). If you have trouble viewing a DVD purchased from Craftsy.com, please contact Customer Service.
What is your return policy?
We want to be sure you’re satisfied. If you have trouble playing your DVD, if the content is not correctly presented on the DVD, or you are dissatisfied with the content of your class, we will work with you. Contact Craftsy Customer Service via email or phone. Upon your request, and upon your return of the DVD to us, we will refund your purchase price or send you another DVD to replace a damaged or incorrect DVD, whichever is your preference.
