Meet knitting expert Ann Budd and start class by digging into the gauge, a master knitter’s secret weapon that can predict potential successes or challenges. Then Ann introduces her foolproof methods for measuring your work before you knit and while you knit.
Critical Cast-Ons (33:13)
Start your project by choosing the right cast-on to best enhance your work. Then follow along as Ann shows you how to improve basic cast-ons and goes over her favorite methods for ribbed tubular cast-ons and provisional cast-ons.
Successful Shaping (24:03)
Does your project use increases or decreases? You’ll explore several versions, including slanting left, right and neutral, to successfully shape with ease.
Better Bind-Offs (32:29)
Finish up your project by exploring some world-class bind-offs. You’ll see when and how to work an elastic or invisible bind-off, and even get tips on improving your basic ones.
Conquering Seams (39:14)
You’re not done yet! In this lesson Ann demonstrates how to seam your work with a simple method that yields sturdy results.
Knitter’s Bag of Tricks (15:15)
Ann wraps up class by sharing a few troubleshooting tips and tricks to help you power through any project. Find out how to achieve neater edges, join new yarn, and master the handy Kitchener stitch to graft live stitches seamlessly.
Ann Budd learned to knit as a child after her father brought her family to the German-speaking part of Switzerland during a one-year sabbatical. She went on to study science in college and ended up with a master’s degree in geology. Through it all, she continued to knit and eventually switched careers to become an editorial assistant for Handwoven magazine at Interweave Press. Today, she’s a book editor, knitwear designer and the author of the best-selling “Knitter’s Handy Book” series.
