Your Instructors

Cynthia Bleskachek

Rejuvenating old furniture is Cynthia Bleskachek’’s passion. Growing up in her mother’’s home-based business, Cynthia developed a deep appreciation for the craft of upholstery. In 2001, she joined the Professional Upholsterers Association of Minnesota and began her own upholstery career. In 2015 she was a featured presenter at the Minneapolis Junk Bonanza and has spoken at many industry events. Today, you can find Cynthia working and teaching at her St. Paul shop, The Funky Little Chair.

Kim Chagnon

With 20 years of experience, Kim Chagnon has become a trusted name in both upholstery and instruction. In 1996, she started her own business, Kim’s Upholstery, which continues to thrive and give clients the custom upholstery they truly want. When she’s not busy at the store, Kim is busy teaching. For the past six years, she’s led classes for the Window Coverings Association of America group as well as popular trade shows and conferences. She is also a co-founder of the sold-out 2014 Sewing and Upholstery Retreat.

Cherie Killilea

Cherie Killilea has been sewing slipcovers and working with furniture for more than 16 years. She began sewing when she was just 6 years old, and started writing patterns in 2006 as a way to share her creativity with fellow enthusiasts. Today, Cherie is a renowned pattern designer and owner of StudioCherie, a website where she creates bags, accessories, clothing and slipcovers.

Susan Woodcock

Susan Woodcock has owned her own custom drapery workroom for more than 25 years, offering sewing services, custom window treatments and interior design expertise. She’s the author of the comprehensive how-to book “Singer Sewing Custom Curtains, Shades and Top Treatments,” and shares her passion through Home Dec Gal, a home decorating website. Together with her husband, Rodger Walker, Susan also co-produces the Custom Workroom Conference, an educational event and trade show. Her latest venture is the Custom Workroom Technical Center, a hands-on training facility for custom window treatment and soft furnishings, in Tryon, North Carolina.

Linda Lee

Linda Lee has loved fabric for as long as she can remember, so it’s no surprise that she has spent her career working in fashion and interior design. She is the owner of The Sewing Workshop Pattern Collection, where adventurous sewers can find patterns for distinctive garments created with innovative techniques. She has written numerous sewing books and contributed articles to magazines including Threads, Sew News and Stitch. She has also been the sewing expert for segments on the HGTV programs “Today at Home” and “Our Home.”
