Meet Pamela Leggett, pattern designer and expert sewing instructor. Pamela starts with a step-by-step breakdown of perfectly serged seams on knits, wovens and even delicate fabrics. Then, learn to stitch a French seam speedily by using both a serger and sewing machine.
Elegant Hem Finishes (22:39)
Ready for Pamela’s technique for truly blind hems? It takes away all the frustration! Tackle this special method, then move on to creating a ripple-free narrow hem on a curved or bias edge. The lesson ends with a speedy technique for smooth fused hems on knits.
Stabilizing With Stay Tapes & Interfacing (15:14)
Quality stay tapes and interfacings are essential to professional sewing results! Follow along in this lesson as Pamela shares tips and techniques for stabilizing shoulders, necklines, zipper areas and more. Plus, tackle an expert approach that keeps interfacing perfectly lined up with pattern pieces.
Shaping With Darts & Elastics (24:45)
Darts and elastic waistbands add shape, but they can also be tricky to sew. Luckily, Pamela’s here to share her secrets for pucker-free darts in wovens and smooth darts in knits. You’ll also learn to skip the casing and stitch knitted elastic straight to your garment fabric for beautiful waistbands.
Sharp Collars & Flat Facings (17:17)
It’s the little details that are the true hallmarks of quality. That’s why collars with matching, sharp points are a must! Pamela lays out her favorite understitching method for a stellar wrapped collar, before teaching a similar technique for facings that lie flat.
Better Set-In Sleeves (23:23)
Hate setting in sleeves? You’ll love it once you learn Pamela’s techniques for measuring and adjusting ease in your sleeve cap! Once you tackle these must-have skills, Pamela shows steps for setting in a perfectly-eased sleeve.
Designer Techniques (22:47)
Expand your skillset with techniques for gorgeous details. Pamela guides you through creating rolled hems for delicate fabrics, a classic Hong Kong seam finish for unlined jackets and foolproof tips for matching plaids and stripes.
Pamela Leggett has been teaching for more than 30 years! Specializing in pattern fitting, fine garment sewing, knits and serging, she’s developed a fun and informative style that shines in her patterns and instructional DVDs.
