Description
These socks are worked from the toe up, beginning with a cast-on that mimics a row of knitting. The toe is shaped into a wedge by increases worked at each side until the desired number of foot stitches is achieved, then the instep stitches are worked in a k3, p1 rib pattern while the sole stitches are worked in stockinette. Stitches are increased along the gusset lines, the heel is turned, and the heel flap is worked as the gusset stitches are decreased. The rib pattern is worked all around the leg and ends with a flexible bind-off. To accommodate the slightly larger circumference added by the calf muscle, the upper half of the leg is worked using needles one size larger than the main needles. Find video instruction for this pattern in Essential Skills for Sock Knitting with Ann Budd.
