Meet popular knit and crochet designer Kristin Omdahl, who will teach you to knit beautiful yet simple shawl designs.
Kristin named the Jasmine shawl for its petal-shaped bind-off. This top-down, triangular shawl is worked with eyelet rows and a ruffle edging.
Create the dimensional tiers on the Jasmine shawl by picking up and knitting into the original fabric.
The cape-style Gardenia shawl closes at the neck with a button or ribbon. The six-petaled gardenia design that decorates this shawl is worked in rows, not rounds, then joined with a three-needle bind-off.
Short-row shaping on a knit cast-on creates a belled or scalloped edge. The arrow lace pattern is worked in an eight-row repeat.
Put the pieces of the Gardenia shawl together with a collar at the top of the yoke, a button closure and attached gardenia flowers.
We get started on the Infinity shawl, a rectangular wrap with armholes that features some of Kristin's favorite techniques. Start by making motifs in the Infinity design -- they look difficult but are worked with simple increases and decreases.
Now assemble the Infinity motifs with steam blocking, sewing and pinning to turn your S-shaped motifs into their final shape.
Move on to the Infinity shawl itself. Pick up and knit into the assembled Infinity motifs to create this beautiful and unique shawl with a scalloped lace edging.
The Infinity shawl pattern can be modified to make a capelet style or a regular wrap without the armholes.
Kristin shows innovative ways to wear your shawls to show off their unique shapes and delicate motifs and edgings. Turn your Infinity shawl into a keyhole scarf or create a shrug with your Jasmine shawl and a hair clip!

Description

Learn how to knit a lace shawl through three projects and build your knitting skills with fiber arts star Kristin Omdahl. You’ll create delicate, geometric designs based on patterns found in nature, with three included patterns designed by Kristin just for Craftsy. Gardenia Shawl: This cape-style shawl closes at the neck with a button or ribbon. It’s worked from the bottom up with decreases, and adorned with six-pointed flowers that are knit separately and attached to the yoke at the end. Infinity Shawl: Create a rectangular shawl with armholes. Deceptively simple motifs are knit in rows, and assembled separately into infinity symbols. The matching lace border is picked up right onto the motifs and knit outward to create a scalloped edge. Tiered Jasmine Shawl: A top-down, triangular shawl with eyelet sections for picking up and knitting ruffled tiers. Each tier finishes with delicate flower-petal picots.
