Discover simple secrets for setting your sugar sunflowers apart in this special mini-class led by popular instructor Nicholas Lodge. Start by learning two methods for forming and coloring the iconic sunflower center using either a mold or working by hand, and find out how to add eye-catching texture to your center. Then, explore different techniques for cutting your petals and attaching them to your center for an end result that truly shines. Your sunflower wouldn’t be complete without calyxes, so Nicholas shows you how to create those next. And, he’ll share tricks for cutting out, thinning and veining your most realistic leaves yet. Finally, Nicholas shares coloring techniques for both a traditional sunny palette and one of a deep ruby hue —— perfect for a gorgeous autumn-theme cake — before walking you through each step of assembling your sweet sunflowers.
