The supplies you need will depend on what type of skirt you want to make, and we will talk more about requirements for each skirt in their sessions, but first, let’s talk about fabric.
The easiest skirt to make is essentially a wide tube, gathered with an elastic waistband. In this session we will talk about the little bit of math required to get the ruffled look you want.
What is more fun than a simple gathered skirt? A tiered skirt with multiple rows of gathers! In this session we will talk more about gathering ratios and seam placement while cutting a skirt with four tiers.
In this session we are going to freehand a pocket pattern and talk about the best way to insert them. This method works great for making your own skirt, but also if you have a purchased skirt and want to add pockets.
There are two ways to address the top of a gathered skirt. You can make a casing and add elastic, or you can create and attach a waistband and install a zipper. In this session we will look at both ways.
Sometimes we choose a hem because of its function, sometimes because of its appearance. In this session we will talk about the how and why of picking the perfect hem for your skirt.

A lot of folks get into sewing because they want to make clothes for themselves, but sometimes it can be a little overwhelming to find and prep a paper pattern. Join me as we make several different styles of gathered skirts so you can take your vision and execute it in fabric.
