In this session, Nicki discusses the correct fabric stretch percentage that the pattern is designed for and provides a primer on knit fabrics and the concept of negative ease. Then Nicki demonstrates several pattern alterations, including waist, hip, and neckline shaping.
Nicki demonstrates how to begin constructing the tank top. First, you will learn about an elasticized thread called Seraflex, which allows you to use a straight stitch even on knit garments. Then Nicki demonstrates how to use all-purpose thread and stretch stitches to construct the tank, shelf bra with elastic, and hem.
In this session, you will learn how to measure the neckline and armscye to determine the correct binding or band length. Then Nicki demonstrates how to attach a band to the neckline and binding to the armscye.
To achieve a smooth edge finish with no binding or band, Nicki demonstrates how to use the burrito method to stitch the bra and tank together at the neckline and armscyes with right sides together. After turning the tank right side out, you can press and topstitch, or wear the tank with a clean, smooth finish at the edge.

Using the pattern provided with this class in five sizes, Nicki discusses how best to choose the right size, the right fabric, and the right thread for the project. Nicki demonstrates several alterations to the pattern, to ensure the best fit. You will learn what stitches to use when sewing on knit fabric and how to attach elastic to the lower edge of the shelf bra. To finish it all off, Nicki demonstrates how to use a band to finish the neckline, and how to bind the armscyes by measuring the seamline to achieve the correct binding length.
