Jump right in and start sketching the head shape for your project. Lindee shows you how to easily cut the shape from medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and sand it smooth so it's ready for paint.
Continue working on the head shape by applying a spray coat. Then add in your first layer of shapes. And don't worry, there's a handy guide in your materials that walks you through the process.
Start forming your face by adding shapes to create specific features such as a nose, cheeks and jaw.
After you're done with the second layer, add a third layer of shapes to form more refined features such as eyebrows and highlights.

Known for her whimsical murals, Lindee Zimmer is a public artist based in Denver. Her work is inspired by the textures, lines and colors she finds in nature. Lindee studied art education at Colorado State University and later founded the Fort Collins Mural Project, a nonprofit that collaborates with local artists and businesses to promote contemporary art in public spaces.
