Among the many variations of C2C, Mary Beth focuses on double-crochet blocks and working the color changes from a chart that is included with your class. She uses worsted-weight yarn in four colors, and an I/9/5.50mm hook.
Starting a corner-to-corner piece gives you near instant gratification – you will always start with one block, and the early rows are stitched very quickly because the number of blocks in a row is so small.
When you are building up the size of your corner-to-corner project, you will be working increase rows, in which each row of blocks has one more block than the row before. In this session, Mary Beth will focus on increase rows, and work only in one color.
When working on a corner-to-corner project, you often want to change colors of yarn. There are simple ways to manage your yarn, whether you are making stripes and changing at the end of a row or working a chart with multiple colors and having to change in the middle of the row.
Now that you have made a piece that is the maximum width or height you desire, it is time to stop increasing. To square off your piece you will work a decrease row for every row. If you want to make a rectangle, you will work even before you square off your piece to finish it.

Description

Corner to Corner crochet, often abbreviated as C2C and also known as Diagonal Box Stitch, is a fun way to make items like blankets, throws and sweater backs with a graphic element. The color changes are usually worked from a chart, and no matter how big your final piece may be, it starts with one short chain and one solitary block. Learn the secrets of C2C with crocheter Mary Beth Temple.
