Learn how to select a quilt, how to prepare it, and other materials you will need for your coat.
There is a LOT of information in this session! We will talk about taking accurate measurements, which will give you the information you need to draft the perfect pattern. All the effort you put into planning your project will pay off in a gorgeous, well-fitted coat.
While cutting each pattern piece is simple, placing them on your quilt requires a little forethought! We will talk about working with borders and getting the most bang out of your quilts design by placing to focus on the details you want to emphasize.
Unlike many other styles of garments, we want to do as much seam finishing as we can to the individual garment pieces while they are still flat - it is just easier to maneuver that way. We will look at serging or overlocking and two different finishes using bias binding.
We finally get to sew! In this session we will sew our coat together, then finish up the neckline and add closures.
