This session covers a presentation and a summary of everything that will be learned throughout the classes.
The list of materials and tools with which we are going to work during the course is covered in this session, including a block of double letter size white sheets, pencils: 2H, HB and 2B, red, cyan or green colored pencil and an eraser.
We begin by using the Loomis method of distributing the main features of the face. We draw from three-dimensional thinking to eventually draw our character in any action pose.
We draw the main structures of the eyes and nose in simple steps, and over it we add the details.
We draw the main structures of the mouth and ears in simple steps, and over it we add details.
We comment and draw on the importance of the torso and hips as the center of movement for the rest of the body. We explore and draw the different movements they can have, as well as the way to draw them without losing expressiveness in our drawing. We also review the differences between the male and female human body.
We draw the three-dimensional elementary forms of arms and legs, finding the existing similarities in them, especially in terms of movement. We then explore and comment on perspective.
We add fundamental muscular considerations in the drawing, both for arms and legs.
We draw the basic shapes of hands and feet, and later build more detailed structures on top of them. We comment on the important considerations for each of them.
To finish the course, we will draw a human figure from scratch, but we will start by considering the existing canons of beauty for drawing: realistic, idealistic, fashionable, and heroic.
We draw the human body going through and reviewing the principles seen in the previous units.

Description

In this class you will learn start to finish how to sketch the human figure. Your instructor, Gerardo Escamilla, will break down each part of the body in individual sessions and demonstrate how to start each part with simple shapes, then add more complex detail on top. In addition to learning how to sketch the smaller, detailed parts of the human figure, like the eyes, nose, mouth and ears, Gerardo will explain how to use three- dimensional thinking in order to draw a figure in an action pose. You will also learn how to add musculature and detail to the torso, hips, arms, and legs. Once you have covered each part of the human figure individually, Gerardo demonstrates how to put it all together to draw a complete human figure.
