Meet Ashley Hough and get an overview of both the duffle bag and the clear removable bag. Download the supply list and cutting instructions, then cut out the pieces for the outer duffle bag, the lining and the removable bag.
Begin constructing the duffle bag sides, including a pocket with flap and magnet closure, a handle, and a D-ring attachment for the removable strap. You will also get to work with much of the hardware used on the duffle in this session.
Assembly of the duffle bag continues with the construction of the front and back. Both have decorative and functional additions, including a front pocket with a double magnet closure and a clear vinyl window for an ID card. You will also begin to attach the zipper to the upper edges of your bag.
With the bag starting to come together, it’s time to focus on the lining. The lining can be a blank canvas for interior pockets, so customize to your liking! See how to make pockets in any size to attach to the lining, then assemble the lining and attach it to the zipper at the upper edge.
With the lining done, it’s now time to attach the lining and bag together and start assembling the remainder of the duffle bag. This is where it can start getting tricky, but take it slow and soon enough you’ll have a completed duffle.
Now that the duffle body is complete, you’ll need a way to carry it. In this session you will make both short handles for the front and back of the bag as well as a longer removable strap so the bag can be carried over the shoulder.
Make a clear vinyl bag that snaps into the lining of the duffle so it can be easily found. The seams are trimmed in felt to add another element of design and complexity.
