Whether you are picking from your yarn stash or getting some new skeins at the store you can use almost any yarn. And yarn is all you need! Because we are using our arms or fingers to make the stitches, no other tools are needed.
Finger knitting in a youth group is a core memory for a lot of people! In this session we will learn the finger knitting basics, then learn how to make an adorable little braided scarf with the output.
Some say that casting on for arm knitting is the hardest part, but we will take a deep dive here so you can practice until you are confident. Once again, no tools are required – just your arms and a few brain cells!
In this session we are going to take a look at two stitches – the plain stitch, which looks just like stockinette stitch in hand knitting, and the knotted stitch that looks like garter stitch in knitting. They are both simple to do, and like anything else, practice will make perfect.
Now that your fabulous project is finished - and that happens very quickly! – it is time to bind it off, so it doesn’t come unraveled.
While you can make a lot of different projects that are simple rectangles – throws, cowls, scarves, pillows etc. – in this session we are going to take a quick look at increasing and decreasing in case any shaped projects are on your wish list.
