Class Sessions
Machine Embellishment Setup
26:42
Meet Lynda Faires, your guide to an endless variety of creative machine embellishments. Take a peek inside Lynda's incredible sample book. Then watch as she shows you how to start your own, beginning with a single stitch sewn using different levels of tension, length and width.
Decorative Stitches
26:41
You don't know what you've got until it's sewn. Lynda shows how shine, strength and size can change a thread's appearance in the transition from spool to fabric. Then she gets to the fun stuff: mixing up motifs and stitches to create new recipes and row patterns, along with 3-D inserts.
Stitching Circles
24:14
Learn how to stitch a perfect circle with no pivoting as Lynda walks you through how a single attachment can make your life a whole lot easier. Then watch as she shows how to join decorative ends, and finishes with a primer on how to get the maximum amount of drama from twin needles.
Couching
24:43
Couching means holding one fabric down using another, and Lynda shows how that single technique can create a number of high-contrast designs. First she gets variety by using different stitches, from zigzag to tacking. Then she applies that idea to materials, from fibers to beads.
Cords
18:22
Your sewing machine is more dynamic than you ever realized! Lynda shows how an empty bobbin winder can be your best friend when twisting cord. Then she demonstrates two techniques for fringe and loops: one with an attachment you can make at home, the other with a special presser foot.
Free Motion
22:28
Add to your machine-embellishing repertoire with a few free-motion techniques. Lynda takes over for her presser foot and shows how to draw and style with both straight and zigzag stitches. Then she demonstrates one of her favorite designs: the "trapped treasure" that makes art out of scraps.
