The Leaf: Contour (18:35)
Continue blocking-in your leaf by creating clean, linear contour lines on top of it. Work your way around the shape as you connect the points in between; you’ll see how the block-in acts as a roadmap for the contour. Also, find out how to render realistic shapes.
The Leaf: Dimension & Detail (41:43)
Complete your leaf by cleaning up the contours and adding graphic details. Learn how to use hatching and shading techniques to make your drawing more dimensional. Understand the difference between soft and hard edges, and how line quality affects the appearance of objects in space.
The Skull: Building a Geometric Framework (17:55)
Patricia goes over the measuring tools you’ll need for your second project: a deer skull. Start by laying down geometric lines to create the framework. Discover how a knitting needle (or similar object) helps ensure accurate proportions, curves and shapes.

Develop your skull drawing by blocking it in, similar to your first project. Keep in mind that for this one, it’s important you take the time to check the accuracy of your measurements, angles and curves to create a realistic drawing.

Complete your skull drawing by adding dimension, details and visual interest. Accent your drawing with contour and tone to make your skull really pop off the geometric background.

Start your third project, a still life drawing of an onion and some leeks, on a piece of colored paper. Patricia discusses the importance of lighting, then shows you how to block in mass tone and value in addition to shapes.

Once you’ve blocked in the tones and values for your drawing, develop your shapes by learning to refine light and shadows. Patricia will show you how to use both light and dark values to make your onion look more round and voluminous (rendering form).

Complete your onion-and-leek still life by refining the shape of your leek and adding final details and contour lines. Learn how to shape a cylindrical form and approach local color changes with success.

Her work has been exhibited at galleries worldwide and was included in the historic presentation of Contemporary American Realism in museums throughout China. Patricia’s paintings focus on mythology, allegory and contemporary human life, and have twice graced the cover of American Artist magazine.

How will I receive my DVD class?
Your DVD will be shipped in the mail using the address you provide at checkout. Your purchase also includes access to a streaming version of the class and downloadable PDF class materials. After your purchase, you can find your streaming class and your PDF class materials by logging into your Craftsy account using the user name and password you established.

How do I access the companion materials for my DVD class?
Come to Craftsy.com and log into your account using the username and password you set up when establishing your Craftsy account or purchasing your DVD. In your “My Account” area, select the “Classes” content. On this page, you’ll see all classes you’ve purchased from Craftsy. Simply select the desired class from your content list, and you’ll be presented with your selected class page. From the class page you can easily view, download or print the companion class materials, which are in the “Bonus Materials” tab on the class page. You can log in any time, and download or print the companion materials as many times as you like. Companion class materials are not shipped in the mail with your DVD, and must be accessed on Craftsy.com.
How do I stream my class on Craftsy.com?

In your “My Account” content, select the desired class. Stream the video on-demand from the class page any time you like; your viewing access is unlimited. No, you do not. Every DVD purchased on Craftsy.com includes both the physical DVD in the mail and unlimited on-demand streaming access at Craftsy.com. These benefits are yours with or without a Craftsy membership.

What is your return policy?
We want to be sure you’re satisfied. If you have trouble playing your DVD, if the content is not correctly presented on the DVD, or you are dissatisfied with the content of your class, we will work with you. Contact Craftsy customer service via email or phone. Upon your request, and upon your return of the DVD to us, we will refund your purchase price or send you another DVD to replace a damaged or incorrect DVD, whichever is your preference. If you do receive a full refund, your streaming video class will also be removed from your Craftsy account, so on-demand video access will no longer be available to you.
