Slit Topper (Machine Knitting)

This contemporary top is knitted as intarsia, but none of the yarns are crossed as they normally are to prevent slits between the sections. Instead, the slits become the focus of the design. While I found it fastest to work with an intarsia carriage and separate bobbins, you could also work this design with holding position if you are careful about moving weights often and keeping exact track of the row counts.
