Couture sewing expert Angela, instructor of the brand new Bluprint class Sewing Designer Jeans, dishes the sewing, fitting and designer tips that she has learned throughout the years. Plus, she sheds insight on fashion trends.

Sewing Best Tutorials

Winner: The Renegade Seamstress

Beth is busy mom, grandma and teacher who loves to create. She finds refashioning to be ridiculously fun and has been so inspired by all the creative and talented people who have so graciously posted their work online. Through her blog, she hopes to connect with more talented people and possibly inspire a few herself.

Runner-Up: Sew Mama Sew AND Red Brolly

A blog and sewing community founded by Bluprint instructor of Bag-Making Basics, Kristin Link in 2005, Sew Mama Sew promotes sewing and other needle crafts by providing instruction, inspiration and encouragement. The blog regularly celebrates the work of talented quilters, sewists, writers and designers, and demonstrates ways to use new products, including fabric, patterns, books and tools.

Red Brolly is a sewing and craft blog by designer Bronwyn Hayes. It features lots of craft projects, tips and tricks for photographing your craft, ideas for upcycling, latest sewing and craft news and shows, reviews of fantastic shops and products, paper craft and free diy printables, interviews with designers and stitchers, ideas for decorating with quilts, stitching tutorials and lots of yummy homestyle recipes.

Winner: Lucky Lucille

Rochelle is a nerdy girl with a penchant for 1940’s style and making her own clothes. On her blog she shares the “how pretty” with the “how-to” of vintage sewing.

Runner-Up: Goodbye Valentino

After a year of sewing her own clothes rather than buying them, blogger Sarah decided to keep sewing! Join her on her journey of sewing more and shopping less.

Quilting Best Bluprint Instructor’s Blog

Winner: Stitchery Dickory Dock

Instructor of the first-ever (and free!) Bluprint Block of the Month, Amy Gibson’s blog is all about her quilty sewing obsessions, as well as her adventures in modern motherhood and homemaking!

Runner-Up: Simplify

Instructor of the brand new Bluprint class Playful Piecing Techniques, Camille Roskelley has designed more than 70 original quilt patterns, and creates annual fabric collections for Moda under her Thimble Blossoms brand. On her blog she shares tutorials, tips and the latest trends.

Winner: Crafty Gemini

Vanessa’s Crafty Gemini blog is a collection of her sewing, quilting and crafting tutorials, cooking recipes, organic gardening adventures, life experiences on her 5-acre Florida farm and the fun/educational activities she does with her kids. You might recognize her from her Bluprint class Sew Little: Nursery Design.

Runner-Up: Red Pepper Quilts
On her blog, Rita shares her fresh modern quilting style, using really simple and often traditional design ideas to make colorful quilts. She shows readers that easy to make quilts can be really striking, and encourages them to take small risks in fabric and color selection for a final product that won’t disappoint.

Winner: Maureen Cracknell Handmade

This blog chronicles the adventures of a stay at home mom who loves to make things, living with her husband, three children, kitty – Lily, and new puppy – Penelope in small town Pennsylvania. Maureen shares her passion for sewing, quilting, fabric, knitting, felting, and drawing.

Runner-Up: Fresh Lemons

Since beginning quilting in 2009, Faith from Chicago dishes on modern quilts, home decor and handcrafted clothing.

Kara’s grandmother taught her to crochet at age 9, now 30 years later she’s graduated from the CGOA Masters of Advanced Stitches and Techniques Program.
