  • 2¼ teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons coarse sea salt

Method 1:

Measure all of the ingredients into a small bowl. Briefly stir to combine, and then transfer to an airtight container. Store at room temperature. Tastes best within a month of mixing. Stir/shake before using.

Method 2:

Measure all of the ingredients into a medium mason jar. Seal the jar and give it a shake. Now it’s mixed, and already in the container! Once again, tastes best within a month of mixing. Stir/shake before using.

Scaling up

This recipe can easily be doubled or scaled up at an even greater quantity.

Minced versus powder

For best results, use the minced garlic and minced onion (that looks like tiny chips) in this recipe. While using garlic or onion powder will still taste good, the mixture will be much more powdery and won’t sprinkle onto bagels as well.

Toast it!

Consider for a moment how you’ll use this seasoning mix. Will you be using it more as a finishing spice? If so, toast the mix briefly to bring out the flavors. This isn’t necessary if garnishing bagels or items which will then be baked.

Adjust the ratios

Do you always want more poppy seeds, or perhaps less onion and garlic, in your everything bagel spice? This is the perfect chance to tailor it to your desires.

Add a little something

Would it be sacrilege to suggest augmenting your mix? Just saying: I’ve tried it with sunflower seeds mixed in, and it tasted fantastic.
