And the Winter Spotlight Challenge Winner Is...

A few weeks ago, we launched our second Spotlight Challenge, where artists recreated the world around them. We sorted through all the entries and decided on the winner: Bluprint member Linda Wuest’s A New Day drawing. Congratulations, Linda!

Winter Spotlight Challenge Winner

Linda describes her work as “a painting taken from my ‘spot’ at our kitchen counter where I have my tea before I start my day!”

Here’s what our art editor Anna Ghublikian had to say about Linda’s piece:

“What I like about this piece is how it communicates a simple moment in Linda’s day. The keys suggest that she may be going somewhere, but not immediately — there is still tea to be sipped and emails to be sent. The interplay of the linework and the color creates a perfect balance of control and serendipity in the marks. Visually, this work is deeply pleasing.”

About the artist

Linda is a retired oncology nurse living in Kingwood, Texas. Linda developed her love of art as an art major in her first semester at the University of Texas, and she’s continued painting throughout the years. These days, Linda focuses on learning and developing her own personal style, particularly with watercolors, acrylics and alcohol inks.

We want to showcase your work!

It’s such a joy to see and share our members’ creative work — that’s what the Spotlight Challenge is all about! We’ll kick off another Spotlight Challenge later this month.
