Before you go into the field to shoot water features, there are a few things you need to think about. In this first session, we’ll explore different lens selections and how they impact lake and pond photography, using reflections and long exposures, as well as composition tips for successful photograph construction.
To set you up for success, we’ll go in the field to explore the different uses for the tools you’ll need for water photography – neutral density filters and circular polarizers – and how they will impact the visual appearance of lakes and ponds.
How do you create a compelling waterfall photograph that reveals the movement and flow of the water? Well, getting the right shutter speed is always key! We’ll also look at how to create compositions that show relationships to the surroundings and one big mistake you should avoid with large waterfall composition.
In this final session, we’ll travel back into the field to look at various ways to explore the outdoor scene that includes waterfalls, the best time of day and conditions to shoot waterfalls, and how you can create a personal in-field workflow for consistently successful photos.
