The Serena swirly skirt is a funky, modern spiral-gored skirt with real "twirl factor" that's perfect for the American Girl Doll and other 18" soft bodied dolls such as Madame Alexander, Gotz Precious Day dolls, the Springfield dolls and the Battat/Our Generation series dolls.
There are two options - a six panelled skirt which fastens in the back, and a twelve panelled version with an elasticated back.
The twelve gore version has optional ties for that oh-so-popular big bow at the back, and the skirt is a full circle! If you prefer you can add more gores to the basic 6 panelled skirt to make a skirt that's less full than the twelve gore version, but still has plenty of twirl factor.
A choice of hem finishes adds to the versatility of this design. Instructions are included for a baby hem, and a bias bound hem. You could also add rick rack to the hem, do a rolled hem on your serger, or you could even add a ruffle to add even more Euro-style flair to finish off the skirt.
The Serena swirly skirt design allows your imagination to run riot by mixing and matching colours, prints, plains, stripes and checks and trims. The pattern pieces are small enough to be cut from scraps left over from other projects.
This pattern has full step by step photo instructions and includes computer drawn pattern pages.
Note: you are buying an original PDF downloadable doll skirt pattern by Genine Allan, not a finished doll's skirt. The dolls and accessories are not for sale.
