PLATYPUS Pattern - Plush Toy Sewing

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • If you can sew - you can sew a soft toy Lion! No fancy stitches are needed - just straight lines - so it's a fun simple project! * I have lots of toy-making tutorials on my blog for beginners - http://www.funkyfriendsfactory.com/learn-to-sew-toys/

Pattern Description:

Plattie is the first "Aussie Mates" Funky Friend. He is also one of the SIMPLEST Funky Friends patterns so I always recommend this pattern for beginner toy-makers and for children. He is suited to most fabrics but I like making him out of fleece which gives him a warm furry feel! With his cute little upturned bill and squidgy body, he's bound to get loads of cuddles.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Finished Toy Size: 12"/ 30cm

  • The Platypus can made from MOST fabrics - The pattern will work well with both NON-STRETCH fabrics (eg. patchwork and quilting cottons and corduroy)and also with STRETCH fabrics (eg. fleece, stretch velour, chenille and flannelette.)
  • Dark brown fabric - 38x21cm / 15x8inch. Light brown fabric - 38x32cm / 15x13inch.

You Will Also Need:

  • Plastic pellets (about 1/4cup/35g/1ounce). 5mm black beads/buttons for eyes Strong thread for sewing on eyes
