Pattern Description:

The octopus softie is soft and sweet! It can be made with or without the ribbons. The head and legs are filled with polyester stuffing. The legs and ribbon loops are perfect for little hands to hold. Fleece is used for the head and top side of the legs. Cotton print fabric is used for the face appliqus and underside of the legs. Make octopus as shown with a rainbow of colors or use the same color fleece for the legs as the head and use a single cotton fabric color for the underside of the legs.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

The octopus is 5" tall by 13 1/2" in diameter with legs outspread.

Materials:

Fleece - 1/4 yard for head & eight 3" x 5" rectangles of different colors for leg tops (if you are cutting head & leg tops from the same fleece color, you will need 1/4 yard)
Cotton fabric - eight 3" x 5" rectangles of different print fabrics for underside of legs (if you are cutting underside of legs from the same color, you will need 1/8 yard), 2" x 4" rectangle for cheek appliqus, 1" x 2" rectangle for eyes (white denim was used for sample)
Iron-on fusible web - 3" x 4" rectangle (Lite Steam-A-Seam 2 Fusible Web by The Warm Company was used for sample appliqus but any fusible web for fabric will work fine)
5/8" to 1" Ribbon - eight different 1/8 yard pieces
Polyester fiberfill stuffing
Sewing thread - bright blue & color that matches fabric
Embroidery floss - bright blue
Fabric glue (Beacon Fabri-Tac permanent adhesive was used for sample)
