Basic Skills Necessary:

  • You need basic sewing skills to make a doll dress on the sewing machine and basic smocking skills. (This is an easy smocking pattern.)

Pattern Description:

This dress was designed to feature a beautiful bodice that was smocked with beads. It is a simple smocking pattern that a beginning smocker can easily sew. It is a fun smocking pattern to play with using different beads and colors of floss. If you make the floss color is the same as the dress, the beads will show up but not the smocking. The pattern includes seven large pictures of different choices for colors of fabric, beads and floss.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Pattern fits 18-inch dolls with vinyl head, arms and legs and a cloth stuffed body and was sized on The American Girls Collection(r) dolls by The Pleasant Company.

Materials:

  • 3/4-yard of batiste or 5/8-yard of soft broadcloth. 4" of Velcro. 9" of cord for piping. Thread to match. Floss and beads (see directions for color suggestions). Optional: 2/3-yard of 7/8"-1" wide ribbon with organdy and satin stripes.
