Pattern Description:

These adorable giraffe & zebra softies are simple to make! They are stitched entirely by hand, using the whip stitch around the felt edges, straight stitches for the eyes and the running stitch on the zebra stripes. The only materials you will need are felt, sewing thread/embroidery floss, ribbon for zebra's mane, polyester stuffing and buttons (buttons are optional - if making softies for a small child, eliminate buttons and simply sew "x's" on muzzles for nostrils). Enlarge or reduce patterns to make animals different sizes.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

The finished giraffe is 9" x 9 1/2". The finished zebra is 8" x 8".

Materials:

Felt (acrylic felt was used for samples) - 9" x 13" is the largest size needed - white, light yellow, orange, yellow-orange, medium grey, dark grey, charcoal/black
1/2" Buttons with four holes - two yellow for giraffe, two white for zebra
3/8" black grosgrain ribbon - 2" piece for zebra's mane
Polyester fiberfill stuffing
Sewing thread/embroidery floss - blue embroidery floss for eyes & buttons, colors that match felt
Optional: fabric glue (Beacon Fabri-Tac permanent adhesive was used for sample giraffe & zebra)
