Basic Skills Necessary:

  • apply bias tape binding
  • blanket stitch
  • basic sewing skills

Pattern Description:

When browsing my collection of Victorian era fashion magazines, I often encounter small delightful projects. This is a collection of three small sewing kits originally found in the pages of 1870's era fashion magazines such as Demorest, Peterson's and Godey's. They are delightful remembrances of the past and wonderful gifts for the special seamstress in your life. OR make one for yourself!

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • small pocket sized sewing kits


  • fabric, fancy scraps may be used. (less than 1/4 yd)
  • flannel or felt
  • buttons
  • thread
  • bias tape or binding (about a yd for each project
  • thin leather (optional)
  • posterboard

You Will Also Need:

  • white craft glue or spray adhesive
  • pins
  • scissors
