Skill Level:

small skill level requirement Beginner

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Hand sewing
  • Measure and cut fabric

Pattern Description:

I wanted a better way to store my interchangeable needles from Knitpicks. Most needle cases seem to be for straight needles or for fixed circulars. So I figured this out for myself. The pattern has clear step-by-step instructions and over 20 photographs that illustrate each step. You will see what the case looks like at each stage. You will take the cover from an old unwanted book (recycling!), and cover it with pretty fabric. Add slots for the needles, and pockets for cables, notions, or other items. Use it also to store your cable needles, crochet hooks and DPNs.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Varies by size of book used

  • Old unwanted hard cover book
  • Old unwanted T-shirt
  • 2 pieces of fabric, matching or coordinating, about 20" x 20" (50 x 50 cm)
  • 1/2 in (1 cm) wide Elastic, about 24 inches (62 cm)
  • Glue (such as Elmer's Craft Bond Tacky Glue)
  • Velcro or snap closures
  • Ribbon, about 24 inches (62 cm) or Button
  • Clear plastic pocket (optional)

You Will Also Need:

  • Sewing needle and thread
  • Pins
